Does that mean that it is all uphill from Sta Ines to the trailhead? How about the other route near Mang Vics? sir from sta. inez proper back to the trailhead, there is a steep uphill at the end of the trail goin back to the hiway, but its just a short uphill. but if we'll gonna use the route near mang vics using the san isiro trail... that's more torturous... the same with climbing sierra madre on fire roads, and mostly hike a bike portions in the hiking trail. Sir Blackjams... i'm thinking of pedalling all the way to mangvics as a warmup then we hire a jeep from mang vics upto the trailhead because they might charge us very big from BK to the trailhead). still that would save us enough time

We hit this trail yesterday. This is a very, very remote trail. Around 20 plus kms from Mang Vics along Marcos highway, then a 20 km plus long fireroad with rocky river crossings from Marcos highway to Baranggay Sta Ines, then a 6 km single-double track with still rocky river crossings to the falls. Nice falls and very nice views. It is quite impossible to get out of this trail with daylight and is considered a hardcore trail if one will bike the roundtrip from the trailhead. It took 2-3 hours to get to Sta Ines, 1-1.5 hours to get to the falls from Sta Ines and the same time to get back to the trailhead. Thanks to the 9 riders, and to the trailmaster for the company and experience.

sayang - i was not able to join you guys There will always be a next time of course. I was waiting for the folks at Mang Vic's around 8:30 AM hehe wala tao, I thought they left early or the ride got cancelled. There was no signal on the mobile... I've decided to go home at 10:00 AM then I saw the group going downhill. Your XLT is perfect for this ride as the bike will eat the rocky terrain and the rocky river crossings pati na yung single track to the falls. The sad thing about this ride is that kulang ang daylight to go to the falls and back.

rx555, sorry the posse kept you waiting. we were held up for almost an hour at timberland area because of the ongoing King of the Mountain race, the reason why schedules got messed-up. but in my post-ride evaluation, i think that the sta inez-kinabuan falls trail ride can be better enjoyed if the riding starts at the sitio batangas trailhead. and ride should start not later than 0800 at the trailhead. anyways, this sta ines-kinabuan falls trail is a "must ride" for mtbikers looking for real honest-to-goodness all mountain trail. what with its balanced blend of fireroads, technical uphills and downhills on rock gardens, endless river crossings, single tracks amidst the beauty of the valley engulfed by the sierra madre mountain range. for our overseas mtbiker bros., this should be in your ITI your next vacation, but one thing though is that it is best done during the summer months beacuse the rivers become impassable during the rainy months. nhan: piratahin mo na pics ni drew

@blackjams - How about if we organize a ride that will start at Sierra Madre Hotel provided that we get a good trailguide. We can park our vehicles at Sierra Madre Hotel and start riding our bikes from there. This way, we can shorten the ride by maybe 40kms compared to starting from greenwoods and maybe more for you because you're now in makati.

Sounds good Gary.
The more Time we can cuT from the trip increases our chanceS to get our riding visa ;D ;D ;D
If we take this route (Drive to Sierra Madre) then start biking from the hotel, how long will the trip be (back and forth to the hotel).

@ sir E.C. - Based on rx555's above posting, approximately 6 to 8 hrs roundtrip starting from sierra madre hotel. But with your biking prowess, I think you can do it in 4hrs. Just wait for us, slowpokes, at the hotel.
