i'm also organizing a pmtb ride to puray falls this april. my long ride visa is sadly once a month only. bro... we're cooking up the puray falls ride on holy thursday to be trailmastered by yukon, we'll do the mountain route to the falls and wet route back. regarding the ride... it can be done sir in daylight if you'll start early, and i suggest you start at 7 am at mang vics or sierra.. and still it depends on your pace and your riding skills (especially going to the falls). Average to above average skills are required to get home early... take note, sta. inez is only accessible during summer, rainy days not recommended, as i have counted 15-16 river crossing just going to the falls, and the river reaches knee to waist deep during rainy season. regarding the pics... i'll copy it tomorrow and paste it at the gallery section, bagal internet as of now..

Sounds good Gary. The more Time we can cuT from the trip increases our chanceS to get our riding visa ;D ;D ;D If we take this route (Drive to Sierra Madre) then start biking from the hotel, how long will the trip be (back and forth to the hotel). From the Marcos H-way trailhead to the store in Bgy. Sta. Ines, will be around 20+ kms of fireroads with rocky river crossings. This will be around a 3 hour ride. From the store to the falls thru single tracks, rock gardens and river crossings of around 5-6kms will be around 1.5 hours. The group will rest, eat and swim for 1 hour (that is a fast estimate) and then go back to the trailhead for another 4.5 hours. Actually, there is a climb going back to the trailhead therefore it will take a longer time getting back. The whole ride from trailhead and back will be around 50-55 kms and will take around 10 hours at the least excluding the time spent driving from Manila to Sierra Madre Hotel.

@ sir E.C. - Based on rx555's above posting, approximately 6 to 8 hrs roundtrip starting from sierra madre hotel. But with your biking prowess, I think you can do it in 4hrs. Just wait for us, slowpokes, at the hotel. 4 hrs??? You must be crazy. Maybe if we take motorcross bikes. According to some it takes 10hours from Sierra Madre Hotel. Looks like were in for a long ride in this one.

I have recomputed the distance of this trail from the trailhead. To the Sta Ines store, it is around 15 kms. Then 5 kms to the falls. A round trip to the falls from the trailhead is around 40kms. Can be finished in 8-9 hours with a 1 hour stay at the falls.
The path to right side in Sta. Ines going to the falls is the mountain route with a climb, the left is the single track which is too muddy when it rains.
There is a climb to San Andres and another major climb back to the trailhead. It is a 2 kms climb like the wall.
Ideal bikes to use will be an XC-FS on the fireroad and AM on the single track going to the falls. There are rock gardens everywhere.
Thanks to Gary for my 2nd trip. Hope you can post pix in the gallery.

We parked at the trailhead at 7am and got to the falls by 11am. The guy that was with the lady the last we were there sort of harrassed us in the falls in the beginning, un pala just wanted some dough for Gilbey's Gin hehe. The guy's name is Bernardo and he said that there is another falls which is much bigger and taller than the one we went to. Trekking time around 1 hour. We saw some Trekker/Mountaineers going back to the trailhead near San Andres and they said that they were going to some cave with a river inside. I saw you guys climbing Boso-Boso to Cabading in the afternoon. Ganda ba Batlag falls? Is it far from Mang Vics?

San banda dun from the store? remember we pedal after mangvics to the jeepney station (left side) where we board our bikes when we go to the trailhead of sta. inez, if you notice a road there ( a T intersection), that's the trail head via san ysiro.

I remember that place along Marcos. Where in Sta Inez does that lead to? Malapit ba sa store? Could you do a reverse? Sta Inez to San Isiro and exit near Mang Vics?
