Hello Boss Blackjams, It is actually up to the rider for his choice of saddle. What works for others might not work for you.
I have some experience with Selle Italia Max Flite Gel and with Sell Italia SLR Gel. The SLR is the one Gary has and is a racing lightweight saddle of Selle. Unfortunately, this saddle is too narrow for me and does not fit comfortably as compared to my Max Flite which is 100 grams heavier and is wider.

this is exactly what i've been doin the last several days, trying out saddles. i currently run wtb rocket v on my trance but am in the process of looking for a "better" saddle. i've used selle italia gen. gel before but it's too racy and light (ti rails). i tried the wtb shadow a couple of days ago and it felt good for the first hour, after that i could'nt feel it down there (it was shaped like a race saddle), next i tried wtb pure, real comfy all ride long but it hurt my hip coz it was too wide so i was moving my hip outwards too everytime i pedaled, the seat is shaped like the rocket but wider and thicker padded. i'm gonna try the newer version of the rocket , oh and you can have upgraded rails and stuff for highger end wtb models. go to a reputable bike shop and see if they have the test ride seats from wtb, they'll asdk you for deposit so you can take the seat home and try it out.

i think the silverados are also good aside from being lightweight i'm considering this as it's available locally: 2007 WTB ROCKET V SLT RACE SADDLE Ti rails (210g)

The padding started to really loosen up on mine after about 18 months kaya i switched to the silverado just last week.

That is kinda expensive siguro. Ti eh That is an excellent upgrade as you get the proven stuff for a lighter weight because of the Titanium railing.

ACTUALLY (FOR ME) THERE IS NO GOOD SADDLE FOR YOUR BUTT UNTIL YOU USE (SADDLE) IT FREQUENTLY, THE LONGER YOU RIDE, THE BETTER THE SADDLE WILL FIT YOUR BUTT. OLD SADDLES BECOME MORE COMFORTABLE TO USE BECAUSE IT WILL ADJUST TO THE ANATOMICAL SHAPE OF YOUR BUTT. I USE SLR FOR 3 YEARS YET IM STILL LOVING MY SADDLE.
