in anticipating a crash, i was able to do this sometimes, but most often i just dive: hands, face or elbows first, hehehe. probably need to have a stuntman train us with this technique that could prevent serious injuries in a bike crash.

Totally agree with you...
Need to learn the rolling technique. It's very helpful to avoid broken bones when you crash...
It's a simple exercise in Judo... But if you already learned it. Even you jump more than 10 ft high. You can avoid braking your legs... cool ha ... ;D

I always keep that in mind when I ride but I forgot to remember it when I fall...

Really nice when I pull it off, but on the scariest of crashes ( when I need the technique most ) I tend to forget how to use it. As I live in Norway where theres lots of boulders & stones, I actually swallow my pride and use elbow guards.. Luckily I have a fair bit of experience from landing face-first on far more forgiving snow, on my snowboard, so Ive developed my technique there. Although landing when its icy is a bi#@%! ESPECIALLY when on my bike. Managed to get a neck prolapse once.
