ako, i've just recently converted my avid bb7's to hayes el caminos. i just realized how good hydros are than mechanical discs, but i still like the worry free avid bb7 maintenance wise; wala na kasing bleeding bleeding eh.
kayo, ano sa palagay nyo?

Bleeding is the only downside of a hydo brake but with proper care & maintenance, there's no need to go through the process often. You will be surprised with how the hydros perform, modulation and stopping power wise.
how's the performance of your el camino by the way?

i'm still an "avid" mech db user - particularly avid bb7 as i don't have yet the budget to buy the more expensive hydros besides, i'm really very satisfied with the performance of the award winning bb7. i'll probably stick to bb7 a little longer unless i chance upon a very good and tempting offer for hydros ;D

if i we're to choose... of course i'll choose hydro... but being practical... avid bb7's is the next best thing before hydro.. great stopping power and cheaper... and almost maintenance free.. but if you have the bucks... of course go hydro

try nyo rin TEKTRO IO (mech) para sa newbieng katulad ko. meron pa isa, redline slick ata yun? anyways, yung pang bmx na housing is good for the mechs kasi di masyado na cocompress yung brake cable, gives a better feel for modulation sabi nila. when i was using my bb7, nakakuha ako ng housing na may kevlar mesh and it was quite different, mas magaling yung feel and delivery ng power. di ko lang matandaan yung brand nung housing. anyways, update on the 7 inch rotors. ang lufet ng performance ng el caminos. kakatakot pag nakalimutan na 7 na pala yung harap, feels like an 8 na mech. ganung ka lakas yung brake and i'm still trying to get used to using these hydros.

anyone here has heard or used IRD racing's dual banger db's? the clamping of the caliper to the rotor is bothways, similar to a hydro. but it's a mech.
i want it badly, thing is i don't even know if someone in the phils is carrying it.
