ks with pride-FOX of Course, but other brands can do the same job as the FOX, even RST's and Suntours can do the job of the Fox and Marz, and Manitou,
kaso, the MB Action mags fried our minds...well....
If Mr. RC endorsed Suntour, the price will never be the same again...
lucky Fox!
It's not out of luck or RCs column that fox got the reputation and popularity that they have now.I have to say Its years and millions spent on research and development and an impeccable bloodline on suspension technology. I'm not being materialistic or brand conscious mr. bernie, but unless you are a roadie, i have to agree with you on that, even a rigid carbon or ti fork won't make a difference in any shock fork. But hardcore Off roading is a whole different playground, and shocks like those you mentioned aside from fox and zokes, have absolutely nothing to compare. If RC thinks otherwise, i guess no real mountainbiker would ever read mtbaction again(I'd agree if you say RC is a bit biased at times) .I've personally tried out and used most of them in my years of biking. I currently kept a white rockshox sidrace on my m5 ht now just for weight and aesthetics, but performance wise, it sucks big time. I saw ordinary shocks break, bottom out, bounce, and throw away its rider in happy trails. Generally, equipment is not only confidence inspiring, but will also keep you safe. So in closing,My humble opinion thinks the comments posted here were accurate enough to say that zokes are great forks but weight is still their drawback. I'd say fox is an all around star, and if you want total riding confidence, I vote for the all time FOX VANILLA. (check out the 08 vanilla at dan's, they're a lot lighter now at 3 lbs. and check out the dt swiss 100mm carbon fork soon, you'll definitely drool)
