I personally saw some Local Bikeshops that Chop-Chop or remove parts in the frames and whole bikes that they are selling. They do that to get double profit instead of selling it in the original package.
Some even replace forks, cranks, wheelsets and even components of a whole bike so that they can sell them at higher prices and then replacing those parts with hard to sell parts.

some components on a built bike may not always be desirable to a buyer - so better to sell it frame only and components as separate or oftentimes the LBS replaced the components with good brands to increase the bike's marketability with a good price as well

Kawawa yung mga newbies that will be victimized by these bikeshops because they will be buying bikes where the components were already tampered at the same high prices.
Tag price of 45k for example for a built bike with factory specs (nasa net ang specs), then the bikeshop will chop-chop the good parts, replace them with inferior parts and then still sell them at 45k. The good parts that where taken out, will still be sold separately for double the profit.

The reason why the best place to buy built bikes with stock parts is thru authorized dealers (i.e. giant/extreme, jamis/all terra, trek/cycling zone, etc.) sigurado ka that you're buying a particular model built bike with the original stock part. But of course as the saying goes......."there's a sucker born every minute", and i believe that this sh*thead lbs are waiting for these suckers. i feel sorry for these peepz

Unfortunately, the Chop-chop bikeshops where I saw these practices were "Official" Giant dealers. Majority of the Giant bikes arrive to Pinas as whole bikes except for Team Frames.
I saw an Anthem Advanced that was originally bundled with a Terralogic Fork, get replaced with an RL fork so that the LBS could sell the Terralogic fork as a piece for extra profit. The price of the Anthem Advanced after the fork replacement stays the same.
In yet another LBS in Pasay, I saw a Team Frame that was bundled with a Fox 23 rear shock, was selling with a stock Maestro shock with only a 5k discount. They took the Fox 23 from that frame and are selling it separately for 20k.

hmm...if they do a chop chop, it would be more difficult to get a warranty claim. OEM parts are more difficult to replace because manufacturer's could easily see that it's not included with the packaged frame. at least what you saw are forks, imagine if they changed the BB

I bought an 05 Giant Trance brand new with a stock generic rear shock. Later on, I realized thru the Giant dealer and thru other Trance owners that the stock rear shock for all 05 model Trance were Fox Float R's. Of course the bikeshop that sold it to me obviously replaced the original Fox shock and replaced it with the generic for extra profit. I wonder if the bikeshop you are talking is the same shop that sold me my Trance?

This shop has a mechanic where if he sees that you bought a part from other shops, will automatically tell you to replace brakepads lol! The prices of small parts also like brakepads, cables, etc are thrice the price as compared to other shops.
Better not to go back but since they are the only shop in that area, no choice...
